Hello and welcome. My name is Susan Wright and I’m the author of this blog on books, movies, and music. Originally, I hail from the great state of California, but I’ve also lived in various places since college in Texas, including Colorado, Washington state, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. I now live with my Canadian husband and dogs in Alberta, Canada.
As for work, I spent a number of years in indie book retail and book publishing sales, then got a master’s degree in journalism and spent 15 years at The Washington Post in Washington, D.C. (mostly as a copy editor) before moving to the North Country. I now do a bit of freelance work, including reviewing books for Publishers Weekly, that are completely separate from the ones I review on my blog. I also officiate national and provincial tennis tournaments.
I enjoy reading, tennis, bicycling, and doing yard work with my Labrador dogs Stella and Willow and my husband Robert, who’s a geological engineer. I hope you enjoy browsing The Cue Card and will feel free to leave comments on whatever interests you. I value your opinions and insights and have managed this blog as a hobby since 2009.
