Hi all, I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah or holiday and end of year to all. It’s been a good year of reading, and I’m thankful to the blogging community and those who stopped by here during the year. You make it fun and worthwhile to discuss books, reading, and all things to watch and listen to. I love the tips I get about what to pick up or take in and to hear about all what you’re reading and doing. Many of you have become such good buddies and regulars here and I thank you for your visits and kind words.
On Christmas, we will have a small group of four coming together (along with two lively Labradors) to enjoy the holiday with. See the tree we’ve managed to put up on the fly, though we’re still working on the lights’ missing plug. It’s been nice to be in California this holiday season to visit some with my brother and Dad and be with my adorable husband and also to enjoy things near the beach.
We have thawed out since coming south and plan to return back north in mid-January. In a week or so, I’ll be posting my January Preview and later my Book Favorites of 2024 list, so stay tuned. Until then wishing you all a very happy and peaceful holiday. And may you receive several new books to read. Cheers! —Susan from the Cue Card
I hope you have a very Merry Christmas! Sending you warmest wishes this holiday season. 😀
Thanks much Lark, you too! May you get some books in your stocking. 🙂
Merry Christmas Sue! The tree and sunset are both wonderful. I hope you have a good rest of your visit with family.
Thanks much Helen, you too, Merry Christmas! Have a wonderful time with your daughter & parents.
Happy holidays. Enjoy your time with family.
Thanks much Dorothy, you too. Have a Merry Christmas. Hope you get some books in your stocking. 🙂
Beautiful, Susan! Glad you are enjoying some warmth and sunshine for Christmas, and thank you for another year of book talk and recommendations. Happy Holidays!
Thanks much JoAnn, you too — have a Merry Christmas with your family. Perhaps it’ll be a white Christmas back East. I always feel like we jibe on books so your recs are always great. Look forward to hearing about new reads in 2025!
I’m glad you are enjoying some family time in a warmer place right now. It’s been a pleasure reading with you and reading your blog because I get so many great ideas about books and movies.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hope Santa brings traets for Willow and Stella. xo
Thanks much Tina, that’s kind of you to say. You read a lot of good ones too and I feel the same — always great to see what you’re reading & your reviews. Wishing you both & Loki a very Merry Christmas … and new books in your stocking 🙂
Have a wonderful Christmas with your father and brother. I don’t know about where you in California are but in Goleta / Santa Barbara we have been cold, especially at night. The temperatures outside don’t seem that cold, but our place never heats up well. And it might be because we live relatively close to the ocean, so cooler temps all year.
I have been buying myself lots of books for Christmas, and then I will stop buying for a while after New Year’s Day.
Thanks much Tracy, you too have a very Merry Christmas. It’s been chilly at the beach with fog in the mornings — we’ve been in the OC/Newport area. But some of the afternoons have been nice. Hope you have sun on Christmas Day in SB.
And I look forward to hearing about your recent book haul. Enjoy!
Lovely tree! Glad you are spending time with family for the season. Merry Christmas to all of you and wishing you peace and joy and love. I enjoy reading about your ‘reading’ and hope to continue to do so in 2025. Take care!!
Thanks much Kay, kind of you to say. And wishing you & your family a very Merry Christmas too. I wasn’t sure if you started back posting again but I hope so. I look forward to seeing what you’re reading too. Enjoy your holiday.
Love those California sunsets! I wish you a peaceful Christmas celebration, Susan. I’m sure it will be nice to be with your dad and brother. Your mother will certainly be missed, won’t she. Big hugs to you. So thankful for our book-ish friendship. May our paths cross again, hopefully in the next year or two. Merry Christmas to you and Robert from our little cove in Oregon. xoxo
Thanks much Lesley, wishing you a great Christmas as well at the Cove. I enjoy our bookish friendship too and hope you return sometime to Alberta. We often read many of the same books (and you introduce me to others) and I enjoy hearing your takes on them. This Christmas is hard without my Mom but she is always with me. I am definitely missing her now so thanks for thinking of us here. Greetings to your Mom & Rod and hope you have several books under the tree!
Merry Christmas! Enjoy the (relatively) balmy weather. We had some extension cord (MIA) issues when trimming my mother’s tree tonight. Also, where were all the extra hooks? They always disappear between Christmases.
Hi Constance, I can relate with the tree decorating issues. We had several, lol. I hope your Mom’s tree looks nice … and you are liking a white Christmas there?
Thanks & Merry Christmas to you too. Enjoy your book piles. 🙂
Great sunset and tree. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Susan! I hope you enjoy your time with family. May the New Year only bring good things our way. I’m not getting books for Christmas but movies galore. 🙂
Hi Carmen, thanks. We’ll have a small festive gathering and I hope you will have a nice gathering too. Are your relatives still there? And you’re getting movies … that’s good to know. My brother – an action buff – wants us to see Gladiator II, so we might go (I hear there’s a shark in the Colosseum, crazy eh?) … Have a very Merry Christmas … you’ll have a white Christmas, right?
My relatives have moved out but we gathered to celebrate Christmas Eve. I’m eagerly awaiting the release to rental of Gladiator 2 and Wicked. I think I’ll buy them. Let me know if you end up going to see Gladiator if it’s worthwhile. Enjoy Christmas with family!
Thanks Carmen. And good to know. It’s nice you all could gather together for the holiday.
I think we might see Gladiator II tomorrow, lol. We’ll see if it’s any good. Cheers!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. May I wish you peace and happiness with the earnest hope that 2025 will a great year for you.
Thanks David. Yes, I like all the nature and birds you post on your site, which I found out about at Dorothy’s blog. I will continue to visit in 2025. Wishing you too very happy holidays!
Hi Susan, I love your tree! And I so agree about the book blogging community. We have a really good one going and I always look forward to your posts. I learn alot and I get so many ideas on what to read next. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family!
Thanks Kathy, that’s very kind of you to say. And we certainly have a good group of readers & bloggers. It makes it fun. You give me good book tips too. Hope you are having nice & relaxing holidays. Happy reading.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas
Thanks Shelleyrae. It was fun and I hope yours was as well. 🙂
Well said, Susan! I second everything you said. Merry Christmas!
Thanks Deb. Glad you agree. We have a good group of friendly readers & bloggers, which makes it fun to share. Cheers! Enjoy your holiday week.
I guess you are still in Southern California! Hope you enjoy time and warm temps! Freezing here in Montana where it’s currently 20 degrees. High is supposed to be 28, haha, but the kids are loving the snow and activities. It’s pretty. Hope you enjoyed your time with family and your sweet dogs!
Thanks Rachel. Ha funny — I know those cold days well. But glad we have switched climate locales for a bit, lol. Hope you enjoy the snow & festivities there. Enjoy your trip! Our dogs are liking the sand instead of the snow, maybe they’re getting spoiled about this weather. hmm.
